hi all! so i'm finally able to upload my pictures onto my facebook. and i'll be doing a quick follow up on my japan trip. which was almost a month ago :l ... LOL but anyway.. in this post, i'll be blogging about a different part of Tokyo which i went to. its called Hakone, pronounced as ha-kon-neh. hahaha. honestly, hakone was the highlight of my trip. the place was beautiful... read on and you'll know why!
had our breakfast before taking a 2 hour train ride over to hakone! and we checked into our japanese style "hotel"? hahaha idk how to describe it! maybe it would be more appropriate if i called it our "japanese home" for those three days :)
the view behind our "home"! its actually a giant long kang. but still beats singapore's one hands down!
dinning room by day.. and.. bedroom by night
btw, those pillows. are freakin SAND BAGS. they were so uncomfortable.. i really had a hard time felling asleep. i'm not even exaggerating. its the kind that "if i threw it at your face, you'd black out" kind of hard. but anyway, we checked in and went off to grab some lunch. came across this little restaurant, and their tempura udon was da bomb.
returned back to our room and went to the "hotel's" private hot spring which my mom booked. it was truly.. an amazing experience. it was the highlight of my trip and i would definitely go back. the feeling of being there was almost breathtaking. we were definitely living the life.
and despite the fact that we're all looking glamorous, we were actually freezing like shit. it was like.. 6 degrees? and we were only wearing out swim suits. me trying to be a hero, took off my kimono and tried to jump into the tub. but the water was too damn hot. we were all just squating at each corner of the tub trying to get used to the hot water. and at the same time freezing like shit. LOL it was damn funny. if only i caught it on video. it was hilarious. but yes, we eventually got in after maybe 10 mins!
so after we were done with our hot spring, after like.. maybe 20 mins? because apparently soaking too long in hot water is really bad. we went for dinner. which was provided by the "hotel" as well. we had a idk-how-many-course-dinner in out own private banquet!
our night ended after dinner because hakone is a really chill town. no hustlin and bustlin. and we had to wake up early to do touristy stuff in the morning! which brings us to our breakfast the next day! in the banquet again! which i didn't really fancy :\
and on our way to the top of the mountain! it was reaaaally cold that day. hence the fur
me trying to capture the smoke coming out of my mouth cus it was really cold. LOL i act like a child sometimes. i'm really amused by that whole "smoke from mouth" thingy.
my parents and the boat we took to get the the cable car to get to the mountain. lol
my sister and i camwhoring infront of the window cus of the ultra good lighting = ultra good looking complexion.
so no pictures of the view on the cable car. because it was SO foggy. we could barely see anything ahead or behind us. LOL we were just surrounded by clouds. and when we reached the top, we went to try their famous "volcanic black egg". its really nothing tho. it tastes like any normal hard boiled egg.
and their volcanic noodles. just kidding. i don't even know why the noodles are black. i don't even remember seeing my family eating BLACK noodles. LOL
so we went outside to continue our journey on the volcano. and btw, the story behind the photo below is that every time my mom tries to take a picture for me and my sister, on 3, my sister and i would quickly change our pose into something stupid! haha
came across this at the bottom of the volcano, decided to try the black one! cus wasabi was just too exotic..
its really not that bad. it just tastes like.. vanilla. but it stains your mouth.. LOL
and then we took a cable car > train back to our hotel and that was the end of hakone day 3-4!! until next time guys! hope you enjoyed this post :)
